Position Summary

Supervises all food and beverage related service activities. Works closely with the Clubhouse Manager- Food and Beverage in the management of all functions of the food and beverage operation. Manages and controls budget in food service operation to attain desired results. Responsible for ensuring members/guests receive consistent friendly, attentive and efficient service in the dining room. Cooperates fully with all management staff to achieve the team development management approach.

 

Essential Functions

  • Communicates with the Clubhouse Manager to ensure a coordinated effort aimed at providing a quality dining experience for the club members and guests.
  • Works closely with the Clubhouse Manager in the development of annual performance objectives and measure of progress.
  • Cooperate fully with the Clubhouse Manager to achieve the team development management approach.
  • Receives guests, inspects, and supervises dining room employees, maintains order and cleanliness.
  • Develops internal reporting procedures of food and beverage activities along with proper documentation of all member billings.
  • Implement bar policies and food service policies assuring standard procedures are followed.
  • Check function sheets and reservations daily against room set-up and employee schedule and manages efficiently.
  • Supervises the actual service of food and beverage.
  • Knowledgeable in catering menus and banquet preparation.
  • Event planning as it relates to Clubhouse operations.
  • Interview applicants for front-of-the-house positions.
  • Serves as secondary point person for Jonas/Point of Sale system. Familiar and fluent in utilizing the Point of Sale system on a daily basis.
  • Oversees all aspects of "meal service" responsibility that includes station assignments opening / closing duties.
  • Ensure appearance of personnel and cleanliness in all service areas is up to standard.
  • Manage and train Banquet/set up/Relief Managers with training of dining room staff and on-going training of same.
  • Create/update staff schedule in a timeline and collaborate with other managers.
  • Review "specials" and conduct a daily/nightly meeting (line-up) with servers, bussers, and service staff.
  • Implements established bar policies and food service policies assuring standard procedures are followed at all times.
  • Handles, resolves, and addresses member complaints/feedback and reports the problem to Directors/Managers to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Works closely with HR department and other front of the house/dining room managers to ensure employees comply with HR requirements/policies and procedures.
  • Customarily and regularly directs the work of a department or unit.
  • Recommends and provides significant input regarding group staff on hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, and other employment changes needed.
  • Conducts and documents counseling with staff to ensure policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Conduct safety meetings/trainings as needed.
  • Assists and works with Human Resources with recruitment and orientation.
  • Required training, counseling, and discipline of employees.
  • Maintains and verifies bottle wine sales and closing shift pars.
  • Issues liquor, etc. Nightly to bring Bar(s) up to established pars.
  • Assisting with any setup duties prior to shifts.
  • Adhere to all service standards.
  • Supervision of multiple service staff.
  • Maintain neat appearance and courteous manner.
  • Punctuality and a good attendance record are expected. Must be able to cover clubhouse operations and times open for business as instructed.
  • Perform any other duties and/or tasks assigned by management. 

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Must have excellent computer skills, including extensive use of Microsoft Office programs and related POS system/Jonas preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a country club.
  • Efficiently handle multiple calls to customers, members, vendors and the general public.
  • Respond to member complaints and inquiries in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and coordinate and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Must be a detail-oriented individual and possess time management skills.
  • Must maintain high performance standards.
  • Simple computational skills (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Percents)
  • Fluent reading and writing in English with the ability to recognize signs and symbols.
  • Ability to deal with routine changes often.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with all employees, management and members.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to lift/move up to 50 lbs required.

Education and experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, preferred major in Hospitality and/or Business management.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in the Food & Beverage industry to include supervisory skills.
  • A minimum of two years related supervisory experience.
  • Must possess Point of Sale experience, Jonas preferred.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office programs Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
  • Required experience in the hospitality industry (hotel, restaurant, or country clubs).
  • Required experience with staff training, team building, and development.
  • Experience with managing/supervising others required.
